This sword is called Rheinfelden in honor of the Battle of Rheinfelden fought within the framework of the Thirty Years' War, which actually consisted of two battles that took place north and south of the city of Rheinfelden between February 28 and March 2, 1638 between the Protestant mercenary troops of Bernard of Saxe-Weimar on the French side and the Bavarian Imperial forces under the command of Johann von Werth of the Holy Roman Empire. Bernardo was defeated in the first but managed to defeat and capture Werth in the second.
This type of sword was carried by many of the men on both sides. Its design allowed the sword to be closer to the body, making it easier to carry and handle.
Rheinfelden German Rapier Sword with functional blade is made of high carbon steel. Includes sheath. The guard is designed to cover the hand only on the back, since they stopped the attack with that side.
