The Chinese Jian sword is moderately long, double-edged and practically without a cross. It is one of the four great weapons of Chinese Martial Arts, along with the Dao, the Qiang (spear) and the Gun (staff). From the beginning the Jian sword, analogous to the other swords of all times, became the exalted weapon of nobles, aristocrats and important soldiers.
That is why many of the Chinese heroes carried it, that the emperors had their Jian as a "stop" (weapon for belting, luxury and for ceremonies and events) and that it is even the mythical weapon of many legends.
In modern martial arts the Jian sword is used as a Tai Chi and Kung-Fu weapon. This is why the Jian Taichi Sword – Flex is excellent for Tai Chi practice with a very flexible and well-balanced blade. The pod measures 80 cm. and is made of natural lacquered wood.
