Baldur or Balder, in Norse and German mythology, is the god of peace, light and forgiveness, and the second son of Odin. He is the best, and everyone praises him; It is so beautiful in its features, and so brilliant, that it projects its light.
There is a grass that is so white that it is compared to his eyebrow; Of all the grasses, it is the whitest, and from it you will be able to judge its beauty, both in hair and body. He is the wisest of the Æsir, and the one who speaks best and most gracefully; and the quality that attends is such that no one can contradict his judgment. He lives in a place called Breidablik, which is heaven; in such a place, nothing dirty can be.
As his mother had made every creature or weapon promise not to harm Balder, he believed himself invulnerable to everything and devised a game: he asked the gods to throw as many harmful objects at him as they wanted, and nothing could hurt him.
During the game, Loki gave the arrow (or spear) made of mistletoe to Höðr, Balder's blind brother, and helped him shoot the bow. The mistletoe arrow pierced his chest and Balder died instantly.
