Although the main function of the sword was to be part of the military uniform, it was a deadly weapon in duels. The rapsword has evolved from the rapier sword, it cannot cut but it is light, rigid due to its triangular section, being excellent for dodging blows and making thrusts. In general, the pieces of its fog are made of iron.
The sword was included in their attire by the Titles, Nobles, Maiden Knights, Honored Citizens, and Burghers of Perpignan. The saber was introduced into the Infantry Officer's equipment as a combat weapon, maintaining the use of the sword in other acts as the Cavalry Officers did. The Cavalry Regulations of 1803 referred to what the riding swords of the Officers of the line regiments should be, adding “in all other acts, and in the meantime a design of another golden fist more military than the one now used is not approved, they will wear the sword with a shiny black belt, and steel hooks.”
