Description
Medieval metal sabatons with a thickness of 1.5 mm, featuring a design inspired by the models used during the 14th century. By the end of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, sabatons (also known as sollerets or solerets) were plate armor pieces that covered the top and sides of the foot. Mounted knights commonly wore them to protect their feet from blows by enemy infantry soldiers.
They are handcrafted from 1.5 mm thick steel, blackened on the inside for better resistance to corrosion, and equipped with riveted leather straps on the bottom. They have no sole and consist of a conical toe, slightly rounded, several hinged bands or lames, an ankle plate, a 'tongue'-shaped plate, and a heel cap, all connected by sturdy rivets.
